Electric
Power in Western New York is among the cheapest in the nation. The Niagara Power Project, the fifth largest hydroelectric project in the U.S. with a capacity of 2.4 million kilowatts, keeps costs low. Low cost hydroelectric allocations are available in the Western areas of Orleans County. The Village of Holley operates a municipally owned electric system. Natural Gas
New York State Electric and Gas (NYSEG) supplies natural gas in Orleans County. Empire Zone locations are eligible for incentive rates, click here to learn more.

Water & Sewer
County villages operate municipal water and sewer systems; the primary sources of water being Lake Ontario and the Niagara River. Albion, Holley, Lyndonville and Medina have excess water system capacity and sewage treatment capacity. Over 75 percent of the rural areas in Orleans County is served by municipal water.

Solid Waste & Recycling
Disposable rates in Orleans County are among the lowest in Western New York, and long-term disposal capacity is available at nearby facilities. Recycling is mandatory in the county.

Telecommunications
Verizon provides the latest telecommunications products, services and facilities for Orleans County. Diverse routing for interoffice traffic, digital switching, extensive fiber optic cable placement, ISDN service and a distance learning network are all available within the County. Timewarner Cable now offers broad band cable service to most of the Orleans County. DSL is available in selected areas through Verizon.
